A stunning excursion forming part of the Alta Via no. 2. From Malga Ciapéla we walk for the first stretch along a military mule track that leads to the Falier Refuge and, after some hairpin bends, we arrive at a junction where we veer left in the direction of Malga Franzedaz. We go uphill gently to quickly reach the beautiful Valle di Franzedaz with the Mountain Dairy of the same name at an altitude of 1980.
We go up the valley again, taking in the natural garden of grass and flowers of the high mountain that stretches out in front of our eyes. After having passed a sparse forest of larch and mountain pine twisted by the snow, we being to ascend steep hairpin bends sidelined by impressive alpine scree. In front of us, up high, we glimpse the Forca Rossa wedged between the Col Becher (2444 m) and the Piz Le Crene (2760 m), while to the right is the chain of Auta closes off the left slope of the valley.
Having arrived at the top of the grassy basin, we leave trail no. 689 that leads to Passo di Col Becher and continue on trail no. 694 that takes us quickly to Forca Rossa. From here we will be able to enjoy a stunning view over the basin of Malga Ciapéla on one side and the Passo di San Pellegrino on the other. |
